Jeffrey Weinzweig, MD, FACS, is a Board-certified plastic surgeon who is regarded as an international specialist in his area. Dr. Weinzweig, who is certified by the American Board of Cosmetic Plastic Surgery and a member of multiple major plastic surgery societies, is one of the most prolific authors and researchers in plastic surgery, having written six textbooks and more than 200 peer-reviewed papers and chapters. Plastic Surgery Secrets, 2nd Edition is one of the most frequently read books in the world of plastic surgery and has been translated into many languages.

Dr. Weinzweig received his education at many Ivy League colleges as well as other prestigious schools across the world. He attended Columbia University for his undergraduate studies, the Albert Einstein College of Medicine for his medical degree, and the University of Chicago and Brown University for his residency study in General Surgery and Plastic Surgery, respectively. He has also completed dual fellowships in craniofacial surgery and hand and wrist surgery at the University of Pennsylvania / Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Connecticut / Hartford Hospital, respectively.

Dr. Weinzweig was the youngest academic plastic surgeon in his discipline to be appointed chairman of plastic surgery at a big hospital in Boston. He was on the faculty at Brown University before becoming chairman, where he was the Director of the Wound Healing & Tissue Engineering Laboratory. In addition to his own practice, he is the Chief of Craniofacial Surgery and the Director of the Craniofacial Anomalies Program at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. Dr. Weinzweig is the Founder and Executive Director of Komedyplast, a non-profit worldwide organization that treats children in underdeveloped nations with complicated craniofacial defects who would otherwise go untreated.

Dr. Weinzweig's vast research history stretches back to his adolescence, when he initially devised various experiments to cure breast and lung cancer in small animal models and enhance wound healing in radiation- and chemotherapy-impaired animals. Over the past four decades, his work has received international acclaim and numerous prestigious awards, including the prestigious James Barrett Brown Award from the American Association of Plastic Surgeons for the most significant contribution to the field of plastic surgery that year, as chosen from all papers published in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the field's leading journal. That study was one of the first to show that wound recovery in the fetus is scarless.l.
