Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty, or nose surgery, is a nose-reshaping operation used to improve the structure of the nose. It can be done to fix a deformity, such as a hump on the nose, to give minor adjustments to improve your facial shape, or to have a practical reason, such as correcting breathing problems.
The technique aids in the reduction of nose size, modification of nose shape, reduction or modification of nostrils, and correction of traumas or birth anomalies.

What is Rhinoplasty?
Nose surgery is quickly becoming one of the most popular cosmetic operations in the United States. Most surgeons recommend deferring the treatment until the patient is 13 or 14 years old, when the nose should be completely formed. In addition, surgeons want to ensure that the patient thoroughly knows the procedure's risks and benefits. Before the procedure, your surgeon will advise you to quit smoking. Alcohol consumption is also strongly discouraged. Because smoking and drinking reduce blood flow to the skin, there is less oxygen available to aid in wound healing, and necrosis (skin death) can ensue.
Primary rhinoplasty surgeries are classified into two categories. If a significant amount of nose contouring is required, an open rhinoplasty is performed, in which the surgeon cuts a vertical strip between the nostrils to provide a view of the complete nasal anatomy. The surgeon will make incisions within the nose for a less dramatic reshaping. The skin is then taken from the nose's bone and cartilage, and the bone and cartilage may be removed, altered, or increased as desired.
The surgery may take one to two hours, during which the surgeon may make incisions around your nose based on the changes you want to make. Typically, the nasal skin is removed and wrapped over the new nasal framework. A nasal splint is usually used to assist stabilize the nose.
